6. Do you know that our children have valuable skills that can assist families in saving money? So, by making a soap gel for the family, my 8-year-old son, who is in second grade, has helped our family save a lot of money on soap as a cleaning detergent for our hands, floor, bathroom, carpet, clothes, and many other uses.

In school, he learned how to make the soap gel. He then began practicing at home by adding nice-smelling essential oils, dettol, Jik, and so on, depending on the purpose. He goes even further to save money for the family by refilling old hand soap, jik, and sta-soft plastic bottles with soap gel for usage around the house.

Because everyone now must clean their hands more frequently, we are able to save a lot of money on hand soap, which is currently very expensive due to increased demand.

Here are the ingredients and method he takes to make variety of soap gels for very little money by reusing existing materials.

Ingredients

  • Bar Soap
  • Carrot grater
  • Boiled water
  • A clean bucket or basin
  • Cooking stick
  • Used clean hand soap, or any plastic bottles like the ones for jik, sta-soft or any other

Method

  1. He starts by grating the bar soap (just the same way you grate carrots) using a carrot grater to produce soap flakes.
  2. Once he is done, he puts the flakes inside a clean bucket or basin.
  3. He then adds the boiled water inside the bucket or the basin containing the soap flakes.
  4. He stirs the mixture with a cooking stick until it turns into a soap gel.
  5. If the soap gel is to be used for hand cleaning, he adds essential oil.

He then adds dettol and essential oils to the floor-cleaning soap gel to make it smell pleasant and help get rid of germs.

He either adds dettol or jik and bicarbonate soda to the soap gel for cleaning the bathroom or the toilet bowl.

Because there is no chemical reaction, he safely adds all of these.

Depending on the purpose, he then puts the soap gel in various plastic bottles. He puts the one for washing hands in clean used hand soap bottles, the one for the bathroom and toilet bowl and cleaning the floor in the jik and sta-soft plastic bottles.

Pro-Tip – You can buy various types of essential oils depending on your preferred smell. Use any clean plastic bottles you have available.
